printer cartridgesA printer has become a necessity for many homes and small businesses these days. No matter whether you use it to print documents, charts or photos, chances are you need to buy replacement cartridges frequently.

Purchasing printer cartridges online is a great way to save on your printing cost. Here are some simple tips that can improve your shopping experience:

6 Tips to Online Printer Cartridge Purchasing

1) Types of printer cartridges. Printer cartridges can be divided into 3 main types: OEM cartridges, remanufactured cartridges and compatible cartridges. Some stores only sell OEM cartridges while others sell all three types. Choose a store that sells the type of cartridges you want.

2) Price. Comparing price is simple but make sure you are comparing an apple to an apple. In general, OEM cartridges are the most expensive, followed by remanufactured cartridges and then compatible cartridges. 100% compatible cartridges are also more expensive than compatible cartridges that may not have all the new components (such as printer smart chips) installed.

Although genuine OEM cartridges usually produce high quality printout, their price is often largely inflated. Due to keen competition and sharp drop in printer price, most printer manufacturers mark up the price of OEM cartridges dramatically to compensate for the loss of profit in printer sale. In comparison, compatible cartridges and remanufactured cartridges are more reasonably priced.

3) Product quality. OEM cartridges are generally considered as the highest quality cartridges but the quality of remanufactured or compatible cartridges is catching up. In fact, many third party manufacturers are producing these cartridges in ISO 9001 facilities following the same specifications of OEM cartridges.

4) Yield of printer cartridges. Comparing the quantity of ink (how many ml) and the print output of toner cartridges (number of pages) can give you a better idea whether you are truly getting a bargain.

5) Fast delivery. Compare the shipping policy of individual vendors. How long does it take for them to ship out your order? Do they provide free shipping?

6) Money back guarantee. Most reliable vendors provide 90 days to 1 year warranty. Many customers do not open their package and use the new cartridges immediately after the purchase. An extended warranty period ensures that you can return the product and get a refund at a later date.

If you plan on storing your printer toner for any amount of time remember to shake the toner before installing.

Police raid printer cartridge business

printer cartridge police raidArizona — Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies raided Lasermasters Thursday morning in the ending of a six-month investigation that started with a tip to the MCSO immigration hotline from one of the employee’s.

Police converged on Lasermasters location shortly after 8 a.m.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, investigators had information that 35 people working at Lasermasters, a company that supplies printer cartridges and are allegedly allowing undocumented immigrants who used fake documents to get their jobs.

MCSO said its deputies, armed with search warrants, went to the Lasermasters location to look for employee files and records on those 35 people. By the end of performance, 24 Lasermasters employees had been arrested, all suspected of being in the country illegally and engaging in identity theft, which is a class 4 felony.

MCSO Det. Aaron Douglas said the investigation was part of a potential employer-sanctions case. Sheriff Joe Arpaio said this operation — the 32nd of its kind — had zero to do with Arizona’s new immigration law, although he does believe the law will be beneficial as his office works these kinds of cases in the future.

One of the many employee’s that was present when the raid went down at Lasermasters spoke to 3TV’s Javier Soto saying deputies busted into the building, yelling “Where are the rats hiding?”

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said his deputies did their jobs properly executing the operation “very professionally.”

“We went in very, very professionally. No guns were ever drawn, even though 10 people were escaping or in the process of escaping. We still did not draw our guns,” Sheriff Arpaio said. “We know what we did, and the people inside know what we did.

“The bottom line is we came in here, enforcing the laws, executing search warrants, and you’re always going to have some critics make up stories,” he continued.

The employee who talked to Javier Soto said he is a Hispanic American who has blond hair and blue eyes. The man said at no point did the deputies try to steer him about his immigration status.

At one point a spectator who had become very emotional revealed that her husband was one of the arrested. She actually had to be restrained as she tried to get to him. She said that this would tear her family apart.

According to MCSO, the previous operations like this morning’s raid have resulted in 362 undocumented immigrants being arrested. Of those, 231 were suspected of identity theft, which is a class 4 felony.

Printer Cartridges from HP subdivides the world

hp cartridgesHP seems to have figured out an extraordinary way of extracting the utmost amount of money from consumers who have been unfortunate decent to buy one of its printers.

HP not being content with overcharging for ink , the computer, printer producer apparently rationalises its printer cartridges as one user found out. The unfortunate person in question, Michelle Sullivan, from Malta, Austrialia bought an HP Photosmart C7180 printer, but found that when she moved to Malta she was unable to purchase printer cartridges.

The problem wasn’t due to regional unavailability, but rather it was down to HP’s decision to create particular cartridges for different regions for the same printer.

The surprised and bewildered Ms Sullivan went to great lengths to find out whether this apparent HP policy was actually true. After questioning the HP dealer in Malta, who told her that HP ink cartridges were regionalized, Ms Sullivan then had a chat with an online HP support agent.

Unsurprised at the response she received was less than helpful, with the HP agent suggesting that Ms Sullivan try to buy HP printer cartridges at  Best Buy or Walmart, not realizing that neither of these retailers has stores in Malta.

KING OF EXPENSIVE PRINTER CARTRIDGES

HP has in the past put some rather refutable restrictions on its printing products. A number of its toner cartridges had lock out features that include page count chips that would stop the printer after a certain number of pages had been printed, regardless of whether there was still toner left in the printer cartridge. You would have thought HP learned a wrathful lesson when Lexmark introduced the lockout chip, lost a 13 million dollar lawsuit against the remanufacturing association. But HP’s page counting chips grew from HP’s corporate greed.

This sorry saga has left Ms Sullivan with a six-month old HP Photosmart C7180 printer that is effectively useless because the printer cartridges are unavailable only because she decided to move.

At press time HP has yet to respond to our questions on this matter.

Toner Cartridge recycling reveals real benefits

toner cartridge recyclingWhile the world stands still and waits for a leader, one printer company is taking the bull by the horns. After years of sitting back and watching consumers discard their used products in the trash one manufacturer has made a statement.  Lexmark has implemented a plan of action that takes recycling to a new level.

In celebration of Earth Day, today Lexmark released the findings of a Life Cycle Assessment that looked into the environmental impact of discarded toner cartridges. Finding that sending a used toner cartridge back to Lexmark for recycling, as opposed to discarding it in the trash, reduces the overall carbon footprint of those toner cartridges by up to 60 percent.

Not only does discarding old printer cartridges in the trash create an astoundingly large landfill with toxic waste, but did you know that it takes 2.5 quarts of oil to produce the petroleum product that creates the plastic shell of a printer cartridge. By reducing the amount of waste that goes into the landfill and reusing the old shells, you can reduce the amount of oil that is consumed day-after-day.

Toner Cartridge Recycling made easy

Lexmark runs free collection programs for its ink and toner cartridges. On Lexmark’s website, you can request a prepaid return envelope for printer cartridges or print a return label for multiple toner cartridges (remember to save the box it came in) to send them back to Lexmark for recycling. Lexmark pledges that 100% of the printer cartridges it collects are either reused or remanufactured for recycling.

Another break in Lexmark’s corporate policy, while being one of the largest manufacturer’s of printers and printer cartridges, Lexmark urges customers to print less. “They have made it a priority to train its customers on what steps they can take to implement responsible printing practices, such as printing less and recycling, to reduce the negative impact to the environment,” said Marty Canning, Lexmark vice president and president of its Printing Solutions and Services section. They suggest customers print only what they need, use double-sided prints as much as possible, and employ digital document processes and paper-less features such as scan-to-email to share documents. The company also recommends purchasing the highest-yield printer cartridges, which helps cut costs and reduce waste.

Another benefit of recycling toner cartridges is the cost advantage. Typically a recycled toner cartridge costs less to manufacture and that savings is passed on to the consumer. So the next time your in the market for a printer cartridge, Check with your local supplier and try and take advantage of going green. Your children and grandchildren will thank you for it when their not too busy texting.
